On the staircase of the Dean's Office at Kotlářská Campus, you can see an exhibition of 15 posters, which represent in pictures and words the transformation of the first ever campus of our faculty. The exhibition presents selected photographs from the Masaryk University Archives. They served as a guide for the well-known Brno photographer Libor Teplý, who used a plate camera to photograph the current appearance of the places in the historical photos from the same point of view. The transformation of the place is thus clearly visible, whether it is the modernization of the roadways, the blanking of chimneys, the stopping of building gaps, and the growth of vegetation.

Science with the sense for Mendel
Welcome to our series of articles Mendel, the Man. The Faculty of Science of Masaryk University wants to contribute to the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Gregor Johann Mendel, which we commemorate in 2022.
We would like to introduce Mendel as a person, personality and character. The series therefore begins with seven texts by Professor Jiřina Relichová, in which the author presents a personal portrait of Mendel based on his personal correspondence, the memories of his loved ones, and a biography and poetry written by himself.

Interview
Petr Liška joined the Faculty of Science MU Mathematics and Physics Department in 2004, with a focus on education. However, when he realised that he had not been adequately trained in triple integrals and partial equations in secondary school, he switched to Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry. He successfully completed his studies in 2010 and started his Doctoral studies in Mathematical Analysis, where, under the guidance of Prof. Zuzana Došlá, he devoted himself to the qualitative theory of differential equations. He has been teaching at Masaryk University since 2007, and he has been a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics since 2020. In his lectures, students really appreciate his empathy, flexibility and human approach, which helps them understand even the most demanding and less popular mathematical areas.
