Some traditional political parties have been losing their electoral support for a long time while new, usually populist political groups and xenophobic parties are gaining their votes. This trend has been going on in Europe for more than two decades. How does this change manifest itself on the map of the election results of the Czech Republic? Are election results a reflection of the social structure of the population of a given place, or rather a characteristic of that place? The seminar will present new trends in electoral geography research, and some of the results of these researches.
Format: presentation and discussion.
