Tourmaline and less abundant dumortierite are typical minerals in magmatic and some high-grade metamorphic B-rich peraluminous rocks (leucocratic granites, migmatites, granitic pegmatites, granulites). They are commonly associated with AFM minerals (biot ite, cordierite, garnet) and Al2SiO5 polymorphs. Compositional variation in tourmaline, dumortierite and associated AFM minerals, phase relations and implication of relevant experimental studies of B-rich peraluminous systems published to date will provi de a basis for derivation of PTX-conditions and possible P-T paths in the studied tourmaline- and dumortierite-bearing rocks. Geochemical characteristics of parent rocks and PT data will characterize melting processes and related/subsequent metamorphism, thus contributing to our konwledge of geotectonic evolution of the Moldanubian Zone.
