Dies academicus: Recognition of personalities who bring distinction to our faculty and the university

On the occasion of Dies academicus, the University honoured outstanding researchers and successful students, awarding its Gold and Silver medals to the laureates. The MU Rector's Award went to Peter Fabian, Daniel Pluskal, Július Vida and Domagoj Gajski. Congratulations to all the awardees!

Natural scientists presented Masaryk University at the STARMUS festival in Bratislava and welcomed great scientists also in Brno

Top science, but also a programme for the general public. Expert topics, but also space for fun and nice meetings. This is a brief summary of the STARMUS festival of science, music and art, which took place from 12 May to 17 May 2024 in Bratislava and in which the Faculty of Science of Masaryk university joined the programme as a university partner.

Barbora Rudzanová received the J. Michlová Prize from the Czech Learned Society for 2024

The Learned Society of the Czech Republic awarded Barbora Rudzanová from Masaryk university, RECETOX Centre of the Faculty of Science. It awarded her the Jiřina Michlová Prize for students of doctoral study programmes. The Medals for Merit for the Development of Science and awards to distinguished scientists, teachers and talented university and high school students were presented on 20 May 2024 at the Carolinum in Prague.

Yesterday, we held graduation ceremonies for our successful graduates. We would like to congratulate the new doctors, masters, engineers and bachelors and wish them much professional and personal success!

Two projects from the MU Faculty of Science have advanced into the TOP 10 of Masaryk University’s ‘Start Your Business’ competition

Natural scientists Matej Zámečník, with his ‘Spicy Cell’ project, and Eliška Pivrncová, with her ‘LactoPads’ project, have made it to the TOP 10 of the ‘Start Your Business’ competition, and therefore move on to the second round. They can now work on improving their projects before they demonstrate them once again at the next presentation on April 24, 2024.

The CzecHopes conference attracted 350 high school students to the University campus in Bohunice. They left excited and full of inspiration

At first a little uncertainty and curiosity, followed by enthusiasm for an amazing event, lots of great experiences, information gained and, sometimes, new friendships. This is how the feelings of almost 350 high school students attending CzecHopes, the largest Czech high school conference, could be summed up. The conference was held at the Brno-Bohunice University Campus and in the grounds of Masaryk University’s Faculty of Science at Kotlářská in mid-February.
