The first astrophysicist to observe the cosmic web is coming to Brno

The universe has fascinated him since he was a child. He studies the influence of black holes on the evolution of galaxies, discovered an explosion that can only be beaten by the Big Bang and was the first to use X-ray telescopes to observe the fibres of the cosmic web. Now, the world-renowned astrophysicist Norbert Werner will be joining the space research centre at our faculty.

The unique Žítková meadows

Our botanists are studying the flora of the Žítková meadows in the White Carpathians. With up to 50 plant species per square meter, including rare orchids, the meadows are recognised worldwide as unique in terms of number of species.

Fulbright Scholar Martin Toul: I was literally thrilled with protein engineering

Martin Toul graduated with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science at Masaryk University. He is continuing his Doctoral studies at the same faculty in the Molecular and Cellular Biology and Genetics program. He will now enrich his successful scientific career with a four-month research stay at the University of Texas in Austin (USA), for which he managed to obtain a prestigious Fulbright scholarship.

A scientist from our faculty has received a scholarship to the University of Zurich

The Experientia Foundation has awarded a scholarship of CZK 1,260,000 to Dr. Lenka Štacková, thanks to which she will spend a year at the University of Zurich. We are proud that this young scientist is working at our faculty!
